I tested these patties on an iron skillet, without breaking them. You will need to cook them on a low-medium heat for making a perfect crispy patty. Gently turn them with the help of two spatulas so the patties won’t fall apart. You can bake these patties as well in the oven for 15 minutes to 400℉/200℃

Quinoa Veggie Burger Step By Step Recipe

How to cook quinoa?

Take a pan, add ½ cup quinoa, and triple wash it in some water. Carefully discard the water. I like to use a strainer. Add 1 cup of vegetable stock to it.

Cook quinoa on medium heat, cover it with a lid for about 5 minutes. Stir the quinoa and cook further for 5 more minutes on low-medium heat, keeping the half lid open.

On low heat, cook quinoa for 3-4 minutes covering it with the lid. Let it sit in the pan for 5 more minutes and fluff the quinoa with a fork. Keep it aside and cool down completely.

How to press tofu?

Take one block of tofu and wrap it in a paper towel or a kitchen towel and sandwich it between two plates, keep something heavy on the top – I like to use pestle and mortar.

Keep it aside for a few minutes. Remove as much water as possible by pressing the tofu.

Add ½ cup of breadcrumbs to the mixture. You can add a couple of tablespoon breadcrumbs if needed. Mix everything well. Cover it with a plastic wrap and let it sit in the refrigerator for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Grease your hands with a few drops of oil and take some mixture and form into a round shape and then press it to form a patty shape – make 10 patties out of this mixture.

Heat a griddle on a medium heat. Then, lower the heat and add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Spread it with the spatula.

Transfer the patties to the hot griddle. Do not over crowd them – it becomes hard to turn them. Drizzle one tbsp of olive oil over the patties.
