Carrot Radish Raita

Carrot Radish Raita

Carrot Radish Raita is a healthy and delicious yogurt based Indian dip recipe. This crunchy raita is made with creamy yogurt, carrots, red radish, cilantro, and green chillies. It makes a perfect side dish which complements any rice or flatbreads.

Spicy, zesty, and crispy radish is not very popular amongst everyone due to its pungent smell and strong taste. When the spiciness of the red radish is paired with the sweetness of the carrots and the sourness of the yogurt, it tastes exceptionally delicious.

This carrot radish raita is very creamy and takes 15 minutes to put together. You will just need to grate carrots and radish, squeeze out the water from the radishes, add some creamy yogurt, some spices, and you are done!

I used to run away whenever my mom prepared any dishes with radish due to the smell. Once the dish was ready, I never felt that I was not liking the dish.

My mom always squeezed out the juicy radishes before using them in the recipes so they will not release any water later in the dish, which also helped to remove that sharp smell from them.

My family enjoys this raita a lot. I hope you will get a chance to try this carrot radish raita and it will become one of your family favorite raita dishes as well.

Tips For Making Carrot Radish Raita

  • Adding a pinch of salt into grated radish for 10 minutes will help to release the water from the radish.
  • Squeezing out the water from the radish will keep the raita thick, creamy, and tasty.
  • Combining full fat yogurt or greek yogurt makes the raita taste heavenly – but you can add any kind of plain yogurt.
  • Adjust the spiciness, salt, and sugar according to your taste.

Variations

  • You can skip adding crushed peanuts into the recipe for a nut-free option.
  • Adding Serrano peppers instead of green chillies gives an amazing taste to the dish as well.
  • For a different flavor, you can add some chopped red onions or green onions in the recipe.
  • Add more yogurt if you wish and adjust the spices accordingly.

How To Store Carrot Radish Raita?

Carrot radish raita tastes best when prepared fresh. You can store the leftover raita in an airtight container for 8-10 hours. If you leave it for longer than 10 hours it might release more water in the dish.

You can store the grated veggies in the refrigerator, add whipped yogurt, crushed roasted peanuts, and spices just before serving.
